Frozen Aperol Spritz

Frozen Aperol SpritzIf you’ve never tried an Aperol Spritz before then now is your time to finally take the plunge. I’m sure you’ve seen it everywhere around social media by now, or noticed it more on menus these days. It was the drink of last summer, I feel like. So maybe I’m a little late to the party? But if you have tried it already then you must know how refreshing it is. It’s light and not overwhelming in the slightest. So it’s the perfect drink for the weekend if you want to day drink, which I highly recommend. With that being said, I’m here to bring you this Frozen Aperol Spritz, which makes it even more refreshing and that much better on a hot day. We’ve been having a lot of those lately. I sometimes crave a frozen margaritas and sometimes I’m in the mood for it on the rocks. It depends on how I’m feeling that day. That’s how I am with an Aperol Spritz as well. Luckily, since it’s Friday after all, I don’t really care how it’s served just as long as it’s served.

This is one of those ridiculously easy recipes that really doesn’t require a recipe, but here we are either way. Fill the blender about halfway with ice and then add in the prosecco.

**Note: Try to add the prosecco in a slow steady stream to avoid creating so many bubbles. It’s not like it’s super important but it’s more so that it doesn’t overflow.**

Then add in the Aperol and soda water.

**Note: Aperol is a classic Italian apéritif that has a distinct bright orange color and is slightly bitter in taste. You can find it in most grocery stores or liquor marts these days. It’s essential to the drink because it’s in the name.**

The amount of ice you put in is dependent on how icy you like your blended drinks. You can always add more after if you need to.

Blend on high until smooth.

Pour into serving glasses and then garnish each with a slice of orange and a few olives.

Since this is a blended drink, they’re best served and enjoyed right away. This isn’t type of cocktail that you can make in advance, especially because of the prosecco and you don’t want it to lose the bubbles.

You can also just make aperol spritz the classic way, without blending it. Just stir all of the ingredients in a pitcher and serve over ice. It’s just as good, I promise.

I love this drink so much because as I mentioned earlier, you don’t really need a recipe for it. You can add a bit more prosecco or a touch more aperol or a splash more soda water depending on your tastes. I personally like a bit more prosecco because I find aperol to be a bit bitter sometimes.

If you’re looking for that perfect summer drink, especially during these hot days, then I hope this Frozen Aperol Spritz is the one. They’re refreshing and so good. The best part of this drink is that it’s not super strong in alcohol so you don’t feel drunk after one. It’s that perfect weekend afternoon drink to enjoy your weekend with. Stay safe out there my friends.

I made this, followed the directions and measurements exactly but it was way too liquidy. It never get slushy. I have no idea what happened, but as an avid Spritz drinker, it seems like there is way too much Prosecco in this recipe. Otherwise it would have been great. 🤷🏻‍♀️
