Carne Asada Pizza

Carne asada street tacos meet pizza with this Carne Asada Pizza. You can use either homemade or store-bought pizza dough. Roll it out and top it with refried black beans, lots of Oaxaca cheese, and grilled carne asada and baked until golden brown and bubbly. Then finished off with onion and cilantro, sliced avocado, salsa and fresh lime juice. It’s the best of both worlds.

There’s something so appealing about pizza on a Friday night. Whether ordering in or making it at home. It’s when I crave it the most, especially after a long and busy work week. This Carne Asada Pizza would be a great start-of-the-weekend meal. I can’t recommend it enough. It’s quick, easy and delicious, more so if you take some help from the store with store-bought pizza dough, beans and salsa. It all just works so well together!

Equipment

  • Grill or grill pan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Pizza stone or pizza steel
  • Pizza Peel

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds marinated carne asada meat
  • 1 homemade or store-bought pizza dough
  • 1 cup refried black beans warmed
  • 2 cups shredded Oaxaca cheese
  • 1 small white onion diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro chopped
  • 1 large avocado sliced
  • Favorite homemade or store-bought salsa
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 500°F with a pizza stone or steel in the center rack.
  • Set a stove-top grill pan over high heat. Once hot, grease lightly with oil and place the carne asada meat on. Cook until charred on the first side, about 8 to 10 minutes. Flip over and continue to cook for another 5 to 8 minutes. Transfer to a cutting board and allow to rest for 15 minutes before chopping.
  • Lightly dust a work surface with flour and spread the pizza dough into a large thing round. Spread with the black beans and top with cheese and chopped carne asada. Using a pizza peel, transfer to the hot pizza stone or steel. Cook until golden brown and bubbly, about 15 to 18 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, toss together the onion and cilantro until evenly combined. Once pizza is done, carefully remove from the oven and place on a pizza pan. Top with the onion and cilantro mixture, the sliced avocado and your favorite salsa.
  • Cut into slices and serve with lime wedges. Enjoy!
