Deviled Ham

I’m not ashamed to admit that I grew up eating a lot of Deviled Ham as a kid. We ate it in sandwiches at the beach. This homemade version however, takes my childhood favorite and jazzes it up. This one actually tastes so much better and is loaded with flavor. It’s great on it’s own with crackers but of course, it’s delicious in a sandwich. Make these for your next picnic or beach outing. You won’t regret it! Well, you might regret not making it sooner.

Servings: 6
Equipment
- Food processor
Ingredients
- 16 ounces country ham or smoked ham
- ½ cup chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 3 tablespoons whole grain mustard
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon celery salt
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
- Kosher salt and coarsely cracked black pepper
- Sliced bread or crackers for serving
Instructions
- Place the ham, onion and parsley in a food processor and pulse a few times to chop it down. Use a rubber spatula to scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl. Add in the mayo, mustard, hot sauce, garlic powder, celery salt, cayenne (if using), and a pinch of salt and pepper. Process until somewhat smooth, but still a bit chunky. Give it a taste and adjust seasoning accordingly.
- Transfer to a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for at least 3 hours or overnight. Serve with sliced bread or crackers. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days. Enjoy!
